I don’t want to sound like I’m massaging anyone here but Marshall Adams who hosted the event is a really outgoing, approachable and hardworking human being. We are lucky to have him as the new Director of Exhibitions and Education at MOCA Jax. With that said, the Drawdown last night was not a Letdown. I think everyone involved enjoyed it thoroughly. I believe so. If you didn’t please comment and say why. It was a great opportunity for me and I’m sure for others to meet folks they’ve only known through the blogosphere. I had several conversations via blogging as an instrument of introduction.

The one thing I wish would have happened and I hope happens next time if there is another Drawdown is that some of the more “contemporary” (whatever that is - and I’m tired of trying to define it) artists come out for it. Also, I don’t understand why some of the more well known artists didn’t show. It would seem to be a perfect venue to showcase your skills and concepts and just do some networking. To most it would be just another night in your studio but surrounded by your peers. I know in other cities events like these draw the top dogs (whatever a top dog is - it all being relative) in town. I enjoyed it thoroughly and will attend again if there is another one. Thanks MOCA Jax. You get the JaxCAL Gold Star and Smiley Face Award. It’s a rare and treasured award. Below is some video footage where I sound like a complete moron and some pics above. Sorry I didn’t get everyone in the coverage but it seemed some folks were quite involved when I was going around. Also, there’s a reception for the artwork on Sunday at 2pm on the fifth floor of the museum. The show will be up until August.
